Adult Programs
Fliteway adult programs are open to anyone age 18 and up. The club offers three adult program paths:

Adult CanSkate (Learn-to-Skate 1)
- Adult Figure Skating (Learn-to-Skate 2)
- Recreational Figure Skating (Active for Life)
1. Adult CanSkate (Learn-to-Skate 1)
This group program is for skaters who want to learn basic skating skills and build general confidence on the ice. Participants will learn the fundamentals of skating in a positive environment taught by Fliteway’s NCCP-certified coaches. CSA-certified helmets are mandatory. Skates must be correct size and feet must be able to stand fully upright in them (no pronation/ supination). A light jacket, gloves/ mittens, and clothes that allow easy movement are recommended.
Skaters in this program are not required to pay the club membership fee, but do have to cover the mandatory Skate Canada fee ($55) once per year.

2. Adult Figure Skating (Learn-to-Skate 2)
This program is suitable for adults interested in learning basic figure skating skills and who already possess a good grasp of learn-to-skate (Canskate) skills. The classes are in an individual format - each class is 60 minutes and includes one 15-minute private lesson and 45 minutes of self-led practice. The lessons are taught by Fliteway’s NCCP-certified coaches. Figure skates are mandatory, must be correct size and feet must be able to stand fully upright in them (no pronation/ supination). A light jacket, gloves/ mittens, and clothes that allow easy movement are recommended.
Skaters in this program are not required to pay the club membership fee, but do have to cover the mandatory Skate Canada fee ($55) once per year.

3. Recreational Figure Skating (Active for Life)
This program is designed for former figure skaters interested in skating and taking lessons recreationally one to two days a week. Participants must already have a figure skating background. The registration fee includes one 15-minute private lesson per day, self-led practice, stroking, and off-ice classes dependent on days chosen.
Skaters in this program are not required to pay the club membership fee, but do have to cover the mandatory Skate Canada fee ($62) once per year. Skate Canada tests may be taken at $12 per test (Star 1 - 5) or $20 per test (Star 6 - Diamond).

The next step beyond Recreational Figure Skating is STARSkate. Adults who want to learn at a faster pace or challenge themselves to higher figure skating levels should contact club director Clyde Hammer (hammerclyde@gmail.com) to arrange before registering.
